Evaluation of Quality of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus Florida) by Nutritional Supplement Addition and use of Casing Overlay to Substrate

Abstract:
This study was performed to determine mineral elements content andquality characteristics of Pleurotus Florida where achieved by nutritional supplement addition and use of casing overlay to substrate. In the present study utilization of soybean meal at two levels (2.5%- 5 % dry substrate weight) and Hogland solution (Hogland, ½ Hogland) without the use or with avail of casing overlay to substrate and with control substrate were evaluated. The results indicated that the addition of nutritional supplement and use of casing overlay to substrate had significant effect on total quality characteristics and mineral elements content of oyster mushroom. Substrate containing soybean meal (5%) with use of casing overlay had higher dry matter, protein, K, N and Na than other treatments. The mixture of soybean meal (2.5%, 5%) and wheat straw showed maximum P content.The highest K/Na ration was obtained on 5% soybean meal ,Hogland, combination ½ Hogland solution and casing layer treatments.
