Abstract:
Demand Chain Management (DCM) is a beneficial concept having effectiveness as it focuses on efficiency as well as customer satisfaction. But the practical implementation of DCM is still a challenge due to insufficient theoretical development in the concept and the complexity involved in the system. The insufficiency of theoretical development of the concept of DCM is due to this being a relatively new concept and the literature shows fragmented developments in the subject. The practical implementation of the concept is a challenge due to involvement of large number of interacting variables having interdependence and inheritances which make it a complex system. It is thus difficult to implement the concept and evaluate its impact in a real situation. This paper contributes to the field by presenting a generic model of DCM with parameters affecting it and also presents a methodology to assess the effectiveness of DCM in a manufacturing industry. Paper also attempts to explore future scope of work in improving the effectiveness of DCM
