Demand chain management (DCM) presents a holistic view of the organization not limiting to the functions of identification of demand and its fulfillment but it extends to the creation of demand. This involves large number of activities and indicators making the study of DCM complex. To manage the complexity involved, this work identifies the indicators from literature and validates them through expert opinion in the light of Indian manufacturing industries. Further these indicators are classified on the basis of helping the creation of demand and helping its fulfillment through NGT, thus managing the complexity. The indicators helping the creation put a challenge for fulfillment hence are called challenges for DCM and those helping the fulfillment are helping the management to match supply with demand, hence are enablers of DCM. The understanding thus gained will help in improvement of effectiveness of DCM, making it more responsive and customer-oriented.
